Он пел под гроход канонад, Нёс эту песню через пламя, Здесь двести дней со смертью Битву вёл солдат За каждый двор, за каждый камень! Сталинград! Иду к кургану в тишине сонного лета, Рождённый после тех боёв и атак. И, поклонясь святой земле В дымке рассвета, Спрошу себя, а смог бы я – так? Как встал солдат стеной у смерти на пути – Тебе, костлявая, за Волгу не пройти! Приняв судьбу свою, он яркой стал звездой, Для тех, кто пал в бою, нет смерти никакой!
