"BOOM CLAP" is a song by British singer Charli XCX, released as a single to the soundtrack of Fault in the Stars and her third album, Sucker. The single topped the Billboard Dance Airplay and Pop Songs charts, Israel's hit parade, and entered the top 10 charts in several countries.
Charli XCX herself became one of the songwriters. Initially, the composition was planned for the second album of the singer True Romance, after which it was offered to Hilary Duff. When Duff's managers abandoned the song, Charli XCX agreed to record it for the soundtrack of Fault in the Stars. Later, Hilary Duff stated in an interview that she was not aware of the song that was offered to her, otherwise she would have agreed to pick it up.
The video for "Boom Clap" was released on June 2, 2014. Directed by Sing J. Lee; the video was filmed in Amsterdam.
Charli XCX performed for the first time with "Boom Clap" on May 14, 2014 during the release of Fault in the Stars [6]; she also performed this song at the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show.
