Из буклета к боксету b-сайдов и раритетов "Join the Dots": Если ‘Let’s Go To Bed’ и ‘The Walk’ были чем-то нетипичным [для группы], то ‘Lovecats’ явился проникновением на абсолютно новую территорию, он искрился юмором и бесстыдным своеобразием поп-музыки, нанизанным на джазовую ритм-секцию, состоящую из звукоинженера Фила Торнелли (бас) и барабанщика Энди Андерсона. If 'Let's Go To Bed' and 'The Walk' were something atypical [for the band], then 'Lovecats' was a penetration into completely new territory, it sparkled with humor and shameless originality of pop music, strung on a jazz rhythm section. consisting of sound engineer Phil Tornelli (bass) and drummer Andy Anderson.
The same drug session spawned several more catchy tunes that were later incorporated into this boxet. “I sang to Phil how bass should sound in 'Speak My Language' and Andy just added drums,” Robert recalls.
“I composed the piano parts and words on the go - which is very much in the spirit of jazz! I suppose I began to realize that the relationship with my old friends is inevitably changing, that's what it was ... I wrote the first lines in advance, but everything else is an explosion, improvisation, maybe that's when I came closest to the “stream of consciousness”. "
