На всей земле II (Во мгле) В ночи моргали огоньки, и двигались вагоны (во мгле, во мгле) И тепловозные гудки кричали, как вороны (на всей Земле) И свет в вагоне был убог, и слаб и желт, и бледен (мерцал сквозь дым, казался сном) И я никак, никак не мог понять куда мы едем (куда летим, зачем живем) И был мучителен вопрос, и не было решенья (в ночи, в снегу), И только мерный стук колес обозначал движенье (через пургу). Итак, мы двигались во мрак, не зная, чем заплатим (за этот бег, за этот снег), И весь вагон не мог никак понять куда мы катим (не то на миг, не то на век). Казалось нам, что этот путь нас на погибель тянет (в ночи, во сне), И что до цели дотянуть нам силы не достанет, (тебе и мне). И в час когда ночной зенит для солнца распахнется (и вспыхнет свет на всей земле), Нежданный ворон прокричит, и наша жизнь прервется (как птичий след, во мгле, во мгле). И наш мучительный вопрос забудется навечно (наверняка). И только мерный стук колес продлится бесконечно, (через века), Он разлетится во всю прыть, на новый берег ляжет (но не умрет, не отзвучит), Под новым небом станет жить, и все о нас расскажет (и не соврет, и не смолчит). О нашей тягостной возне титанов и пигмеев (во мгле, во мгле), О вечной склоке и резне тиранов и плебеев (на всей Земле), О нашем счете на рубли всех радостей на свете (он не смолчит, он прокричит), О нашей медленной любви, и нашей быстрой смерти ... Throughout the Earth II (In the Darkness)
At night, lights blinked, and cars moved (in the gloom, in the gloom)
And the diesel hooters screamed like crows
(all over the earth)
And the light in the carriage was wretched, and weak and yellow, and pale (flickered through the smoke, seemed like a dream)
And I just could not understand where we are going (where we fly, why we live)
And the question was painful, and there was no solution (in the night, in the snow),
And only the measured knock of wheels designated movement (through a blizzard).
So, we were moving into darkness, not knowing what we would pay for (for this run, for this snow),
And the whole carriage could not understand in any way where we were going (not for a moment, not for a century).
It seemed to us that this path pulls us to death (in the night, in a dream),
And that the goal to reach us the strength does not get, (you and me).
And at the hour when the night zenith for the sun swings open (and light flashes on the whole earth),
An unexpected raven will scream, and our life will be interrupted (like a bird’s footprint, in the gloom, in the gloom).
And our painful question will be forgotten forever (for sure).
And only the measured knock of wheels will last forever, (through centuries),
It will scatter at full speed, it will lie on a new shore (but it will not die, it will not sound),
Under a new sky, he will begin to live, and he will tell everything about us (and he will not lie, and will not be silent).
