Гитаристы Nick Webb и Greg Carmichael в 80-х и 90-х годах прошлого столетия под вывеской Acoustic Alchemy произвели на свет серию интересных альбомов, классифицируемых на Западе как adult contemporary music». На самом деле в музыке «алхимиков» всегда присутствовала смесь различных стилей: джаз, фолк, поп, латино, нью-эйдж, соул и т.д. Ник и Грег оба выросли на британском поп-роке 60-х годов. В середине 80-х Acoustic Alchemy заключили контракт с лейблом MCA, на котором выпустили дебютный альбом, Red Dust & Spanish Lace. Под этой крышей были выпущены ещё два полноформатника, несколько напоминавшие творения Sky. В 1990 году «акустические алхимики» перебрались на GRP. Первый же альбом, изданный этой фирмой, Reference Point, получил заслуженное признание слушателей и был номинирован на «Грэмми». На следующий год вышел диск Early Alchemy, содержавший ранние (конца 70-х) совместные эксперименты Вебба и Кармайкла. Помимо этого GRP переиздала все три работы Acoustic Alchemy, выходившие на MCA. Guitarists Nick Webb and Greg Carmichael in the 80s and 90s of the last century under the banner of Acoustic Alchemy gave birth to a series of interesting albums classified in the West as adult contemporary music ». In fact, the music "The Alchemist" was always present a mixture of different styles: jazz, folk, pop, Latin, New Age, Soul, etc. Nick and Greg both grew up in the British pop-rock '60s. Their difference lay in the fact that Webb studied jazz guitar at Leeds College of Music, and Carmichael - classical guitar in the same London institution. In fact, the first incarnation of Acoustic Alchemy included Webb and Simon James, but then gave way to Simon Carmichael, and thus formed a "classical" part of "Acoustic Alchemy".
The first time the duo has collaborated with «Virgin Airlines», writing the music for the entertainment of passengers transatlantic lines.
In the mid-80 Acoustic Alchemy signed a record deal with MCA, which released their debut album, Red Dust & amp; Spanish Lace. Under this roof were released two more full-length album, is somewhat reminiscent of creation Sky. In 1990, the "acoustic alchemists" moved to the GRP. The first album, published by this company, Reference Point, received well-deserved recognition of the audience and was nominated for "Grammy". The following year came the disc Early Alchemy, which contained early (late 70's) joint experiments Webb and Carmichael. Besides GRP reissued all three works Acoustic Alchemy, exit to the MCA.
