«The Vivaldi Album, посвящен не самой известной грани творчества выдающегося композитора Антонио Вивальди - опере. Как ни странно, но до сих пор точно не известно, сколько же он сочинил опер, за чрезмерное увлечение которыми "рыжего священника" (Prete Rosso) критиковали современники. Называются цифры от 40 до 46. Хотя нужно отметить, что в те времена опера была очень популярна, и Вивальди не только создавал оперы, но и участвовал в их постановке. Однако, как это нередко случается, за пиком популярности последовал период забвения, растянувшийся почти на 100 лет. Из 13 арий, вошедших в альбом The Vivaldi Album, шесть найдены в Национальной библиотеке г. Турина, сумевшей в свое время выкупить полузабытые рукописи Вивальди у монастырского колледжа Сан-Карло в Сан-Мартино и у семейства графа Дураццо из Генуи. Of the 13 arias included in The Vivaldi Album, six were found in the National Library of Turin, which at one time managed to redeem the half-forgotten Vivaldi manuscripts from the convent college of San Carlo in San Martino and from the family of Count Durazzo from Genoa. Of course, there is no need to say that modern Vivaldi fans will hear these arias for the first time.
Cecilia Bartoli, who personally selected the works for the album, managed with her expressive, full of energy performance to convey all the charm of the operatic creativity of the great composer.
