The Vitamin String Quartet — музыкальный коллектив из Лос-Анджелеса, один из многочисленных проектов американской звукозаписывающей компании «Vitamin Records». Основатель Дэвид Хирл (David Haerle). Первым выпущенным альбомом стал The String Quartet Tribute to Led Zeppelin (1999). С тех пор было издано более 230 альбомов, представляющих собой трибьюты в честь самых различных исполнителей, как мэйнстрим-направления, так и независимых. В их числе Nirvana, The Beatles, Depeche Mode, Pearl Jam, Tool, Muse, Rush, HIM, Dream Theater, Queens of the Stone Age, Bob Marley,Bullet For My Valentine, System of A Down, Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Massive Attack,Deftones, Simple Plan и многие другие. Состав — The String Quartet : Jim Sitterly (violin 1) Brian Mc Dovey (violin 2) Johny Ace (viola) John Krovoza (cello). ------------------------------ Song information The song portrays lead singer Chester Bennington’s battle with depersonalization disorder, an anxiety based disorder in which the «fight or flight» response in the brain is turned on for an extended period of time (days, months, years), making the sufferer feel unreal and disconnected from others, almost like living in a dream. We find support for this within the song, as people with depersonalization disorder often fear the condition as never ending, referenced in the line «This lack of self control I fear is never ending», and have trouble viewing themselves in the mirror, much like the lyrics in the song describe. In addition, the line "fear is how I fall, " further points toward depersonalization disorder, as people who suffer the condition are still sane, and fear the condition itself, in turn prolonging it and making it habitual. Bennington suffered many years of child abuse in his teen years, as figuratively described in the song. «Crawling» is one of the songs on the album that contains very little rapping: Майк Шинода only has one line that gets repeated in the pre-chorus. The intro to «Crawling» has been twisted up in live versions over the years. Since 2008’s Projekt Revolution, Mike Shinoda has rapped the first verse of «Hands Held High» over the Reanimation intro of «Crawling». In 2009, Shinoda rapped 2 verses of «Hands Held High» over the intro of «Crawling», which first verse started with an a capella or a bass line before the Reanimation intro started, in which Shinoda raps the second verse. |
