DJ, musician, journalist, "international ambient encourager" (as he calls himself), Morris Gould, aka Mixmaster Morris, aka Irresistable Force, is today one of the most prominent and influential figures in the field of ambient music. His relentless tours, weekly play sets and monthly reviews in leading publications, as well as his own website dedicated to the history of electronic music - all this contributed to the development of this direction and the "appearance" of many previously unknown, but talented artists who are now recognized talents. Of these, of course, is Morris himself.
The Englishman Morris Gould began DJing in the early 80s, and not at techno parties, but in punk bars, where he started rock, jazz, "electronica" and all sorts of things between the performances of the groups. Then he took up the “turntables” professionally and, significantly expanding the collection of his records, got a job on the pirate radio station Network 21. He took the pseudonym and aired his show, which easily interfered with Terry Riley’s plays with the singing of Tibetan monks, and Captain Beefheart with records from the wilds of the Amazon. After graduating from college in the mid-80s, Morris began working as a system administrator, and then formed the Irresistible Force project with his friend Des de Moor. The couple played in clubs and toured with Meat Beat Manifesto, releasing a single, before Morris broke the partnership in 1989. Leaving the name Irresistable Force, he began his deepening into the British rave scene, touring The Shamen in the same 1989, playing at concerts and parties, and organizing the first London club ambient event - the Telepathic Fish party series.
Although Morris experimented with tape loops and electronics in the mid-80s, he took up recording seriously only in the early 90s. In 1993, he released his first full-length record, "Flying High", on the label Rising High label, and also recorded the collaboration album "Dreamfish" with Frankfurt ambient composer Pete Nemluck. These works put forward Gould in the back of the new ambient movement - a position that he holds with the four. Morris engaged in remixing activities (Coldcut, The Shamen, Barbarella, Rising High Collective, Higher Intelligence Agency), while working in NME and other publications. However, problems with the label forced him to postpone the release of his second album "Global Chillage" (1995), after the release of which in 1995 Morris broke off his relationship with Rising High and began recording under the patronage of his old friends Coldcut at their company Ninja Tune.
