"The most gangsta of Wu-Tang," Corey Woods, better known as Raekwon, was born in Brooklyn. He joined Wu-Tang Clan to record on Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers, which ensured the band's successful debut. He was later signed to Loud Records and in 1995 released his first solo album, “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx ...”. The album, despite all expectations, sold very poorly. “However, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx ...” is arguably the most influential of all Wu-Tang Clan’s solo projects, thanks to Raekwon’s cinematic imagination and the creation of an album format for a story about cocaine trafficking, criminal activity and the rise in the importance of the illegal industry. Projects such as Reasonable Doubt by Jay-Z, It Was Written by Nas, Life After Death Notorious B.I.G. followed this thematic pattern and laid out the “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx ...” format for building songs. Today we have from this album the track “Guillotine (Swordz)”, recorded together with fellow Clan members Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck and GZA.
