Эльза (твёрдо) Со мной мой рыцарь будет, – Мне честь спасёт в бою! (Не оборачиваясь) Мой щит – посол небесный – Получит власть в краю: Ему моей отчизны Корону отдаю! И счастлива я буду, Когда он всё возьмёт, – Когда меня женою С любовью назовёт! Все мужчины (между собой) Бесценный дар, – будь он в руках Творца! Но кто рискнёт? Нет, не найти бойца! Король Высоко солнце, – близок полдень! Итак, пора бойца на битву звать! (Глашатай с четырьмя трубачами выходит вперёд. Он велит им стать у границы круга правосудия, обернуться лицом к четырём странам света и трубить вызов.) Глашатай Кто к нам сюда на Божий суд пришёл, Чтоб Эльзу защитить, – тот выходи!
