Младой Дафнис, гоняясь за Доридой, «Постой, — кричал, — прелестная! постой, Скажи: „Люблю“ — и бегать за тобой Не стану я — клянуся в том Кипридой!» «Молчи, молчи!» — Рассудок говорил, А плут Эрот: «Скажи: ты сердцу мил!» «Ты сердцу мил!» — пастушка повторила, И их сердца огнем любви зажглись, И пал к ногам красавицы Дафнис, И страстный взор Дорида потупила. «Беги, беги!» — Рассудок ей твердил, А плут Эрот: «Останься!» — говорил. Осталася — и трепетной рукою Взял руку ей счастливый пастушок. «Взгляни, — сказал, — с подругой голубок Там обнялись под тенью лип густою!» «Беги, беги!» — Рассудок повторил, «Учись от них!» — Эрот ей говорил. И нежная улыбка пробежала Красавицы на пламенных устах, И вот она с томлением в глазах К любезному в объятия упала... «Будь счастлива!» — Эрот ей прошептал, Рассудок что ж? Рассудок уж молчал. |

Young Daphnis, chasing Dorida,
“Wait,” he shouted, “lovely! wait,

"Shut up, shut up!" - Reason said,

"You are sweet to my heart!" - the shepherdess repeated,
And their hearts were kindled with the fire of love,
And fell at the feet of the beautiful Daphnis,
And Dorida lowered her passionate gaze.
"Run Run!" - Reason told her,
And the rogue Eros: "Stay!" - said.
Remained - and with a tremulous hand
The happy shepherd boy took her hand.
“Look,” he said, “with a friend, doves
They embraced there under the thick linden shade! "
"Run Run!" - Reason repeated,
"Learn from them!" - Eros told her.
And a gentle smile ran
Beauties on fiery lips
And here she is with longing in her eyes
I fell into the arms of the dear ...
"Be happy!" - Eros whispered to her,
Reason then? Reason was already silent.
