Есть такое универсальное правило. Оно не только про музыку. Как отличить просто талант от гения? Очень просто. Когда слушаешь талантливых исполнителей, говоришь себе: "Да, так и должна звучать хорошая музыка", а когда слушаешь гениев думаешь: "Никогда бы не подумал, что музыка может звучать и захватывать вот так". Dark Tranquillity каждый раз выпускают альбомы, от которых на ум приходит именно вторая мысль. Если немного покаламбурить с названием этой свежей пластинки, то сразу же вспоминается броуновское движение. Беспорядочное движение самых разных частиц, жидкостей и газа. Только тут не таблица Менделеева перемешана, а наследие современной музыкальной индустрии. С одной стороны, здесь узнаваемый, как вкладыши от жвачки из детства, MDM. Станне фирменно зубоскалит, иногда отвлекаясь на свой неподражаемый чистый голос, по привычке аллюром скачут риффы, тащат соляки. С другой стороны, здесь зернь и скань электроники, клавишных, post’а. Ни один слушатель не останется в сушь и впроголодь. Музыканты не играют, они визионируют с самыми разными средствами. Их по инерции называют клубными резчиками по металу, а они уже давно переквалифицировались в музейных гравировщиков. И даже если вам не понравится звук на этом альбоме, вы не сможете сказать, что Dark Tranquillity - это эпигоны, застрявшие на полустанке 90-х. За всю 25-летнюю карьеру у Dark Tranuility был только один резкий скрипучий поворот руля. Когда они после "The Mind's I" выпустили совершенно противоположный "Projector". И вот с тех пор уже альбомов 7-8 группа движется по своей ясной логике. Руководствуется принципом "из цепи кольца не выбросишь", добавляя новое и не забывая о старом. Вот и "Atoma" хоть и поражает, но если вы слушали "We Are the Void" и "Construct", то вы знаете, что не удивить своим еще большим погружением в идеи последних полных морока пластинок группа не могла. Назвал бы это постмодерном в метале, да вот только все равно словами не передашь. А еще мне почему-то кажется, что если бы имажинисты и кубисты жили не в Серебряном веке, а в нашем, то им бы понравилась "Atoma". Tracklist: 1. Encircled 2. Atoma 3. Forward Momentum 4. Neutrality 5. There is such a universal rule. It's not just about music. How to distinguish a simple talent from a genius? Very simple. When you listen to talented performers, you say to yourself: "Yes, this is how good music should sound", and when you listen to geniuses you think: "I never thought that music can sound and capture like this." Dark Tranquility releases albums every time, from which the second thought comes to mind.
If we joke a little with the title of this fresh disc, then the Brownian movement is immediately remembered. The disorderly movement of a wide variety of particles, liquids and gases. Only here not the periodic table is mixed, but the legacy of the modern music industry.
On the one hand, MDM is recognizable here, like chewing gum inserts from childhood. Stanne scoffs firmly, sometimes being distracted by her inimitable clear voice, out of habit, riffs gallop with a gait, pull solos. On the other hand, there is a grain and a scan of electronics, keyboards, post.
Not a single listener will stay dry and starving. Musicians don't play, they vision with all kinds of means. By inertia, they are called club metal carvers, and they have long been retrained as museum engravers. And even if you don't like the sound on this album, you can't say that Dark Tranquility is the epigones stuck in a 90s half-station.
Dark Tranuility has only had one sharp, squeaky steering wheel in its 25-year career. When they released a completely opposite "Projector" after "The Mind's I". And since then, already on albums 7-8, the group has been moving according to its own clear logic. It is guided by the principle "you cannot throw a ring out of the chain", adding a new one and not forgetting about the old.
Even though "Atoma" is amazing, if you listened to "We Are the Void" and "Construct", then you know that the band could not help but surprise with their even greater immersion in the ideas of the last full of obscurity of records. I would call it postmodern in metal, but it just can't be put into words anyway. And for some reason it also seems to me that if the Imagists and Cubists lived not in the Silver Age, but in ours, they would have liked "Atoma".
