Interesting Facts about Earth Moving album
Earth Moving is the 12th Studio Album Mike Oldfield. Mike invited several vocalists to record the album, including their then girl Anita Hegerland. Earth Moving is recorded mainly using synthesizers. This album was the first one where there are no long instrumental compositions, so characteristic of Mike Oldfield. All tracks are pop or rock songs with vocals.
The latter, the longest, track of the album, consists of two separate non-interconnected songs separated by a pause
According to Mike Oldfield, his recording company Virgin demanded from him to create a more commercially directed album than its previous works. After recording Earth Moving, Mike wanted to record an album without any help of computer equipment using only real tools and "live" musicians. All this resulted in his next album, Amarok.
In an interview for the television program Good Morning Britain, Mike Oldfield and Anita Hegeryland said that when creating the Innocent song, they were inspired by their little daughter Greta, which also appeared on the clip for this song. In addition, on the same program they performed the acoustic version of this song, Mike played the guitar, and Anita sang.
